Douglas “Doug” Wayne Myers, 64, of Norman, OK, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born in Detroit to Wayne Douglas Myers and Dolores Ann Spague, Doug served his country with honor for 23 years, retiring as an E8 Senior Chief from the US Navy. His journey took him from Michigan to Florida and finally to Oklahoma, where he embraced life with open arms.
Doug's heart overflowed with love for his family, especially his granddaughters, whom he cherished dearly. Gray, declared by his granddaughter, was his favorite color, symbolizing the depth of his affection for his loved ones. A perfect day for Doug was spent outdoors, swimming with his granddaughters, surrounded by joy and laughter.
Kindness was Doug's guiding principle, and he exemplified it in every aspect of his life, teaching others to pay it forward. His infectious laughter brightened the lives of all who knew him, and his dedication to his family and friends was unwavering.
In his professional life, Doug found fulfillment both in the Navy and in his work at the University of Oklahoma. He approached his job with passion and dedication, forming lasting bonds with his colleagues, whom he considered part of his extended family.
On May 14, 1982, Doug married the love of his life, and together they shared nearly 42 years of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He is survived by his loving wife, Lynne of the home, daughters; Cathy Cole (Warren) of Houston TX, and Kimmie Myers of Moore OK, brother; David Myers (Karen) of Holly MI, sisters; Mary Rimpela (Paul) of Maysville MI, Linda Evans (Larry) of Elizabethtown KY, Maureen Szymanski (Dale) of Macomb MI, Sharon Hansen (Dennis) of Macomb MI, granddaughters; Lucy Harper Cole and Lyra Claire Cole as well as 17 nieces and nephews.
Doug's passing is preceded by his parents, Wayne Douglas Myers and Dolores Ann Spague, and his sister, Laura Parrett. While he may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched with his kindness, laughter, and love. Doug's legacy of love and compassion will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
