Doris completed High School and became a Dental Assistant for two different Dentists until she retired in her 80’s. In Doris’ long life, she moved to Texas, Wyoming, Kansas and Nebraska, before coming back to her home state. In Doris’ free time, she loved to read, watch football, and cheer on the University of Oklahoma. In her younger years, she loved to watch golf. She enjoyed spending time with family. She taught her four girls how to be hard workers and to be strong even in the toughest times.
Doris was a member of the First Christian Church.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband Peck, daughter Jackie A Houck, son in law Ralph Houck, grandson Eric Houck, parents Elden Lancelot Dixon and Ida Ellen (Rader) Dixon, and brothers Dick Dixon, Jack Dixon, and Bob Dixon.
Those left to cherish Doris’ memory are her children Monta J Lucas (Rudy) of Mt. City, Tennessee, Linda E Armstrong (Charley) of Blanchard, Oklahoma, and Jerri Ashcraft of Garland, Texas, seven grandchildren Tammy Sharp, Leslie Unsell, Jay Armstrong, Brian Houck, Mandy Collins, and Patrick Ashcraft, and ten great grandchildren.
Doris’ family would like to thank the Arbor House family for the long term care they gave.
A graveside service for Doris will be held Monday, September 16, 2024 at 2:00 PM at IOOF Cemetery, 1913 N Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071.
