David was born on October 26, 1950, in Oklahoma City to DeRoy L. Bergman and Billye Jeanne White. He attended Putnam City High School before enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1968, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War.
On August 16, 1971, David married the love of his life, Billie Marlatte. They shared 35 wonderful years together before her passing in 2006. Together, they had three children: Jolinda, David Jr., and Zeb. In 1977, the family moved to California, later returning home to Oklahoma in 1981.
David had a deep appreciation for music and was especially fond of The Doors and The Beatles. He enjoyed working on cars, lifting weights, walking his dog, and spending quality time with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was visiting the beach, where he would sit peacefully, watching the waves roll in—a place he found truly calming.
David will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his kind heart, and his belief in doing right by others.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Billie Bergman; his son, David Peter Bergman Jr.; his parents, DeRoy L. Bergman and Billye Jeanne White; his brothers, Michael and Jeffery Bergman; and his sister, Martha Harrison.
He is survived by his daughter, Jolinda Bergman of El Reno, Oklahoma; his son, Zeb Bergman and wife Jessica, also of El Reno; his cherished grandchildren, Zackary Harrison, Noah Bergman, and Zoey Bergman; sisters-in-law Kathy and Maureen Bergman; brothers-in-law Bobby Don Harrison, and Larry Marlatte and wife Sherry; nieces Julie and Dana; nephews Anthony, Chris, and Patrick; as well as a host of extended family members, and dear friends.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at El Reno Cemetery, 1300 E Elm St, El Reno, OK 73036.
