He was a 1973 graduate of Commerce HS where he was a multi-sport letterman as well as earning many academic achievements . He was always considered a hard worker and spent time working at Don’s Alley restaurant in Del City, Kwikset in Bristow, and most recently spent 23 years at Intelek Technologies where he was Vice President of software development. His love for sports was evident in his life with the time he spent coaching his kids, as well as other’s, both on and off the field. Even though he was well thought of on the football field, his passion for baseball superseded all other sports, driven by the relationship he shared with his son, Goob. Aside from baseball, he loved to fish, loved the New York Yankees, OU football, and assisting with Special Olympics. He married, Tabatha, his loving wife of nearly 20 years on May 14, 1999.
He is preceded in death by his father Roy, his son Joshua, Joshua’s mother Cathie, and his brother Tinker.
He is survived by wife Tabatha Carney of Norman, mother June Carney of Midwest City, brother Derrick Carney and wife Karen of Luther, brother Dewey Carney and wife Susan of Tulsa, sister Deena Price and husband Jay of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his children Shannon Whaley of Yukon and husband Cameron, Adrianne Harless of Midwest City and husband Tim, Jessika Craft of Norman, Nick Craft and wife Kathryn of Norman and seven grandchildren, Emma, Easton, Evelyn, Elijah, Gracen, Ezra, and Lucas, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday February 10, 2019 at Primrose Funeral Service and again FROM 8 a.m. - 8 pm. Monday February 11, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Primrose Funeral Service Chapel in Norman, OK.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oklahoma Special Olympics (sook.org) in Dan’s name in support of his special athlete Jessika Craft.
