Aug. 30, 1928, in Decatur, Ark., to Ruby (Richardson) and John Hall, Mr. Hall grew up on the family farm near Gentry, Ark. After graduating from Gentry High School, he and his twin brother Don joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1946. Both became meteorologists and served together in Greenland, the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States, including at Tinker Air Force Base. He married Doris Sylvia LaFleur on Nov. 19, 1949, in Springfield, Mass. The couple had three sons – John, Marc and Jeff. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1967, Mr. Hall moved his family to Norman, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma while working for Weather Science, Inc. In 1972, he purchased The Bookstall in downtown Norman, and eventually operated six stores across Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother Don.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Doris, of the home; three sons and two daughters-in-law, John Hall of Dallas, Texas; Marc and Anna Hall of Garland, Texas; and Jeff and Heather Hall of Waurika, Okla.; three grandchildren, Erin Hall of Midwest City, Lauren Hall of Oklahoma City, and Jacob Hall of Garland; four sisters, Imogene Williams of Del City, Nell Clark of Ardmore, Ellen Feemster of Oklahoma City and Janiece Elder of Jay, Okla.; two brothers, Curt Hall of Lawrence, Kan., and Tommy Hall of Gentry; a host of nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
