Chester Fanshier

Thomas “Chester” Fanshier, of Choctaw, passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Chester was born to T.C. Fanshier and Lillian Jane Wagner, on August 31, 1937, Chester was a devoted husband, father, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering integrity. Chester earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Central State University, laying the foundation for a successful professional journey. Chester married the love of his life Lou Prestine Whiting on June 14, 1956, and they spent 67 beautiful years together raising two children.

He proudly served his country as a Navy veteran and found fulfillment in completing his education. As a long-time resident of the OKC Metro area, Chester was deeply rooted in his community. He was a familiar face at Franklin United Methodist Church, where his faith and dedication touched the lives of many. Additionally, Chester was a respected member of the 32nd degree Masons, exemplifying his commitment to service and brotherhood. Beyond his professional and civic accomplishments, Chester’s true joy came from the simple pleasures of life. He found solace in the melodies of gospel, country, and 50s rock and roll, and cherished moments spent on the porch with a cigar, surrounded by loved ones. His infectious laughter echoed through every gathering, fueled by his love for good jokes and harmless pranks.

A true patriarch, Chester shared his wisdom and skills with his family, imparting invaluable life lessons that will endure for generations to come. He was a man of integrity, who lived his life guided by principles of honesty and compassion. Above all, Chester held dear his faith, his beloved wife, his cherished family, the thrill of hot rods and the dunes. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Left to cherish Chester’s memory are his loving wife, Lou Prestine Fanshier, sons; Ronnie C. Fanshier and partner James “Mack” Heath, and Tommy D. Fanshier and spouse Dana, grandchildren; Tristan C. Fanshier and partner Gracie Nimrod, and Brandon S. Haimes, caregiver; Elaine Mullins, and his fur baby Halo.

On behalf of the Fanshier Family, they would like donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association for Alzheimer’s research. In lieu of flowers the Fanshier Family request Oklahoma Red Bud trees to be sent to the family’s home for his memorial garden.

A Casual “Come as you are” Celebration of Chester’s life is going to be held at the family farm in Choctaw on Saturday, March 23rd, at 2:00 PM. 17301 SE 29th Choctaw, Ok 73020.
