Charlotte Jo Koen Crawford

most recently from 1983 until the day of her death, January 2, 2014. Charlotte was born in

Denton, Texas, on October 10, 1946 to Kenton Leon Koen and Ella Jo Johnson Koen.

Charlotte enjoyed being with her family and especially enjoyed raising her children, barrel racing, showing collies, sewing, being a nurse, being a wife and hosting dinner parties for her husband, whose career she supported, completely, and helped to mold. She was very proud of him. As she followed

him around the country with their children, she never faltered in her support.

She was a loving, loyal, and gentle wife, mother, friend and nurse. She always had sage advice

ready to share or a tasty meal to serve. She made the best fudge even though she was allergic to

chocolate herself and couldn't eat any. She didn't mind. She was the kind of person that gave

to make others happy.

Charlotte studied to be and was a registered nurse that was the textbook of compassion,

which carried over into her every nursing task, even into the making her of patients' beds.

When she saw natural disasters on t.v. where medical skills were needed, she would

often say she wished she could go and comfort the scared and suffering children by giving

them any needed injections, pain free, or just to hold them. She was a very compassionate

nurse and person, as she always thought of others and rarely herself.

She was married to the love of her life whom she fell in love with when she was 15.

They later married in Marietta, Oklahoma in 1964. He later divorced her in October of 2013, just a

little more than a year short of their golden anniversary, an achievement she lamented missing

up until the day she died.

She attended Trinity Baptist then Bethel Baptist churches during her repeated

relocations to Norman. She loved the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her mother whom she continued to miss from the time she was

4 yrs. old. until her own death; her brother whom she had the fondest of childhood memories with;

her father whom she loved dearly; and her stepmother Netta Faye Koen, whom she grew to love

and respect as her own mother.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Scott Crawford, and his children of Murphy, TX; her daughter,

Kendra Crawford-Gogick, and son-in-law, John Gogick, both of Georgia; her granddaughter

Chelsea Crawford and her family, also of Georgia. Charlotte had 2 children, 7 grandchildren,

and 4 great-grandchildren all of whom she was proud and loved very much.

She was the 'eternal optimist' as she never gave up on herself or anyone in her life. She may

have seen the world differently than they, but she was capable of accepting that everyone

sees things through different eyes. She had a fabulous sense of humor that was only subtle

when compared to her caring.

As she wished, memorial services were held in the company of her horses that loved her

unconditionally, and she them.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Baptist Church building fund or the Oklahoma

Department of Rehabilitation Services, Visual Services in Oklahoma City.
