Longtime Norman resident Bonnie Jean Hill passed away in Amarillo, TX on January 2, 2019. Bonnie was born to Hanson and Freda Day on June 22, 1934 in Pond Creek, OK, where she grew up with one sister Loise.
Bonnie married the love of her life, D. Dan Hill, in 1952. During their marriage, Bonnie and Dan welcomed three children, Terry, Keith, and Linda. In the early years of their life together, the Hills moved several times as Dan worked in the oil field. After nine years in Liberal, KS, Bonnie and Dan made their home in Norman in 1975.
In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Bonnie was a valuable professional. She worked for Perryton Motors in Perryton, TX, The Chamber of Commerce in Liberal, KS and Flow Boy Manufacturing in Norman. However, in a position Bonnie took later in life at Steinmart in Norman, the opportunity to visit and develop friendships with many people was a particular source of joy. Bonnie loved her work at Steinmart and was greatly disappointed when the store closed.
As an avid Oklahoma Sooners fan, Bonnie particularly enjoyed watching football and women’s basketball games. In addition to faithfully watching televised games, Bonnie attended many games. Traveling to the OU/TX game with friends provided many wonderful memories for Bonnie and Dan.
Bonnie was a score board competitor herself as a member of a traveling bowling team. She combined her passion for bowling and her complete adoration for her grandchildren as she taught them to bowl. The time Bonnie spent with her grandchildren was her greatest treasure.
As Bonnie reunites with her beloved Dan, she leaves behind her children, Terry and Vickie Hill, Keith and Jody Hill, and Linda Jackson. Bonnie also leaves behind her grandchildren and bowling partners, Justin Hill & Krista Schoenberg, Chad & Cassie Jackson, Tye & Courtney Jackson, Heather & Brad Swartzlander, Amanda & Jesse Sumner, Chris & Kayla Hill. Great-grandchildren include Zane, Shelby, Presley, Gavin, Cora, Evelynn, Rhett, Skylar, Jackson, Camden, Brittany, and great-great grandson Mason. Her sister-in-law Omelee Wiginton. Her niece Jordi Ryan and great-nephew Brody also survive Bonnie.
Her parents, husband, son-in-law, Gary Jackson, and her brother-in-law, RD Wiginton, preceded Bonnie in death.
Services will be Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30 am at Primrose Funeral Home in Norman, OK. Dr. R. Mitch Randall will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) in her memory .
