Bill Dean Moyer, 89, of Norman passed away on Thursday, July 20. He was born on May 5, 1928 in Amarillo, Texas to Clyde Moyer and Lela Barton Moyer. He grew up in Kansas and joined the Marines to serve his country. In 1948 he married Madelyn Priscilla Morrison in Pittsburgh, Kansas.
In 1959, he moved the family to Norman, where they were members of Immanuel Baptist Church. He worked as a welder for Barrett Trailers in Oklahoma City and retired after many years of service. Through the years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, helping his son with the soapbox derby, dancing at the Moose Lodge, making homemade ice cream, water skiing and other boating activities. He was always very proud of his home and loved taking care of his yard, spending time outside on the patio with his Yorkie “Boomer”, and spending time at the lake with family.
Bill is preceded in death by his wife Madelyn Moyer, son Karl Moyer and grandson Shawn Reynolds. He is survived by his daughter, Vicky Reynolds and husband Mike of Moore; daughter-in-law Terri Moyer; four grandchildren: Scott Reynolds, Ashley Brandt, Kari Moyer and Staci Moyer; three great-grandchildren: Reagan Brandt, Cambrey Brandt, and Brody Moyer; one brother Carter Moyer and his wife Arlene of Houston, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Primrose Funeral Service Chapel, 1109 N. Porter Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma 73071, with Dr. Michael Butler officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, 500 SW 104th Street in Oklahoma City.
