Andrew John Potts Jr, known as ‘John’, age 77, of Norman, passed away Nov. 1st, 2022. He was born April 13, 1945 in Norman. John was a 1964 graduate of Norman High School. He was married to his high school sweetheart, Carol Taylor, and they had two children, Audra Carr and Jeremy Potts, both of Forney, TX .
Many in Norman will still have fond memories of honest John delivering his family's delicious fresh “Golden Guernsey Milk'' from the John Potts Dairy that he operated on South Chautauqua until 1979. Clients would tell him, “ No need to knock John, just go in the back door and put it in the fridge”. Afterwards, he worked for Capital Distributing delivering beverages and cleaning fountain taps of many restaurants and stores from Norman to Oklahoma City for 25 years until his retirement. A farmer’s work is never done. Even after the Dairy closed he continued to work the land, raising cattle and baling hay. He was well liked by all and will be remembered for his sweet demeanor and easy going personality. He relished a quiet and peaceful life, content with reading the paper, car and science magazines, and watching a little TV.
He was preceded in death by his Parents: Andrew John Potts Sr and Kathryn Potts of Norman; His sister Kathy Schneringer, of Ponca City; His sister Janette Grotts, and brother John Duane Potts of Norman. He is survived by his sister, Sonia Newman of Norman, His children and their spouses: John Carr and Melissa Potts; and five wonderful granddaughters, Ivy, Emily, Ellie Carr and Aubrey and Kayleigh Potts.
