Born on February 22, 1927, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Alpha was the daughter of John Luther Carter and Laura Belle Waters. She lived her entire life in Oklahoma, where she grew up and formed lasting memories that would touch the hearts of everyone who knew her.
On December 23, 1944, Alpha married the love of her life, J.N. Carter. Together, they shared many years of happiness until his passing on June 28, 1979. As the wife of a military veteran, Alpha showed strength and grace, always putting her family at the center of her world.
Alpha was a woman who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She loved listening to music, particularly anything by Kenny Rogers, and had a fondness for the color green. Her perfect day was spent at home, watching Johnny Carson, surrounded by the peaceful comfort of her own space. Family was her greatest joy, and she always had a smile when surrounded by loved ones. Alpha taught everyone she met the importance of family, love, and togetherness.
A woman of simple tastes, she loved reading, supporting OU sports, and had a special affection for angels and stuffed animals. She lived her life humbly, never needing anything extravagant, always finding contentment in the love she gave and received.
Alpha was preceded in death by her parents, John and Laura Carter; her husband, J.N. Carter; her children, Terry Ross Carter, Harold Dean Carter, Joe Neal Carter, and Janet Ruth James; and her siblings, Richard Harold, Johnny Collins, James Willard, Walter Edwin, Watters Lowell, Clarence Sidney, Joel Luther, Mildred Elma, Clora Mae, Ida Marie, Doris Anna, Norma Lea, and Reba Ermadine.
