William “Chris” K. Smoot, 73, passed away in Norfolk on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Chris was born in Washington, D.C. to the late Richard and Betty Smoot McGee. He is also predeceased by his son, Eric Christopher Smoot; daughter, Kimberly Marie Chesley; granddaughter, Hailey Elizabeth Sadler and a mother-in-law, Anna Hall.
Chris worked as a truck driver and worked majority of his career with Long Haul Driver. He was a family man true at heart, he enjoyed spending time with them all especially his grandchildren. Chris was a cat lover and later on in his life he became an avid knife collector.
He is cherished in memory by his wife, Barbara Smoot; daughter, Theresa (Scott) Payne; brother, Richard J. Smoot, Jr.; son-in-law, Pinie Chesley; grandson, Michael Sadler, Jr.; granddaughters, Leah (Wesley) Cerniglia and Kayla Smoot as well as great granddaughters, Kinsley Smoot, Paisley Smoot and Addelyn Cerniglia.
