Walter Leo Reed

Walter Leo Reed passed away on Dec. 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Wally was born in Boston Massachusetts to the late William and Margaret Reed. He is predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Viola M. Reed.

Wally retired from the US Navy after 22 years having served in WWII and the Korean War earning a Korean War Service Medal. After his service, he spent 20 years as a ship fitter with the Boston and Norfolk Naval Shipyards. Not only was he an avid coin collector, he also loved leather stamping and gardening, especially his lilies and fig tree. Wally was a devoted husband to his “sweetheart” Vi and a loving family man. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Jayne Abrams (Bill); son Karl Anderson; brother Thomas Marden (Joan); sister-in-law Sister Martha Marie; grandchildren Caitlyn, Kim and Kelly; great granddaughter, Adyson and many other loving family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018, 11 am and a visitation the night prior, December 19, 2018, 6-8 pm both at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Crematory, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA. Online condolences may be offered at www.woodlawngroup.com
