Thomas William Turner

Thomas "Tommy" William Turner, 83, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. Tommy was born on September 11, 1941 in Norfolk, VA to the late William B. Turner, Jr. and Mae E. Temple Turner. He was predeceased by his brother, William W. Turner.

Tommy grew up in Princess Anne County and attended Princess Anne High School.

He served his country in the National Guard before pursuing his life long career in carpentry with the local union 613. He was a member of First Baptist Church Norfolk for 50 years where he served as a Deacon and an usher. He loved to travel with The Baptist Builders Association and Southern Baptist Disaster relief. He loved to travel, camp, fish, and spend time with his family. He was a member of The Sons of Confederate Veterans and a volunteer at The Friends of The Francis Land House.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 60 years, Carole Turner; son, Russell Turner; daughter, Lisa Grimsley (Guy); sister-in-law, Gail Turner; niece, Kathy Ross (Chuck); brother-in-law, Herbert Miller (Sharon); nephew, Josh Miller (Ashley); and niece, Rebecca Levi (Jason).

A visitation for Thomas will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia 23502, followed by a funeral service beginning promptly at 2:00 PM.
