Mary Eleane Overstreet

Mary Eleane Overstreet, 89, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2015 and is now in heaven with Jim, her husband of 69 years. She would have been 90 on March 2nd. Eleane is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Jeanne Pool-Coppage (Charles), Manteo, NC; Kathryn Fogelsonger (Len), Chesapeake, and Ruth Kelley (Mike) Chesapeake; her sisters Dorothy and Irene and brother Johnny; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Eleane was born in Martinsville, Virginia in 1922. During World War II she worked for the Maritime Commission in Washington, D.C. where she met and married Jim. They spent twenty years in the Navy traveling from Trinidad to French Morocco to California and retiring in the Pembroke area of Virginia Beach in 1960. A memorial service will be held at 10am on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Virginia.
