Larry Ramos, 85, passed away on September 3, 2024 in Mechanicsville, VA. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 46 years, Jennifer (Key) Ramos; daughter, Lauren Ramos; brother, Ferdie Ramos (Mary Ann); his beloved dog, Gracie; and a host of other family and friends. Larry was born in Tampa, FL to the late Vincent C. and Edelmira Sanchez Ramos. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Ramos Jr.
He proudly served his country as a radioman in the United States Navy from 1956-1977. He served on several ships and completed tours of duty around the world. Following his faithful service, he retired in Norfolk, VA and continued serving his country working in Civil Service for the Navy.
Larry was known for his humor, friendly nature, and excellent dancing. He loved music and would sing or dance at any time. He was a devoted husband to Jennifer and father to Lauren. He served as PTA president at Lynnhaven Elementary School in Virginia Beach and became a loyal University of Virginia fan after Lauren began attending there. He also loved cheering for the Washington Nationals and watching hummingbirds in his backyard.
The family invites everyone for a time of visitation on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 1 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
