Kathleen "Kay" Blanchard, passed on January 17, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Kay was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 4, 1930 to the late John Edward and Mary (O’Neill) MacKay. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 41 years, Ray and her brother James MacKay. Kay met her husband while vacationing in Bermuda and after marriage they enjoy traveling to places such as Nova Scotia, Alaska, Mexico, Morocco and Western European Countries. Kay in her youth was a member of the First Baptist Church in Montreal and a lifetime member of Plaza United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Master Gardener of Virginia and Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club. Her hobbies were gardening, art and volunteering for many causes. Kay was an artist and painted many beautiful paintings that will be treasured by her family.
Kay is survived by children; Lynn Brown (Rick) Renee Haynes (Eric), Helen Martin and Wayne Blanchard, grandchildren; Nathan, Christine, Evan and David Brown, Scott and Todd Haynes, Josh Martin, Wayne Jr and William Blanchard and Amanda Galvan and many other loving family members and friends.
Kay’s funeral service will be held graveside in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10 AM. Woodlawn Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Kay was a wonderful, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers a memorial contribution to “The Nature Conservancy”.
