IN THE CARE OF
Woodlawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens
Jeanette Treichel; also known and loved as “Teenie”, passed away peacefully at age 60 on March 30, 2023 surrounded by her family at Norfolk General Hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage. She was born in Norfolk on July 15, 1962 to Jerry and Sandra Bailey, the second of their four children. Pam, Jeanette, Kim and Michael shared many laughs reminiscing on their childhood and raising their children together.
She married the love of her teenage years Jeff Treichel on March 15, 1983 after welcoming their son Jeffrey into the world. In their 40 years of marriage they built a life they loved, completing their family with the birth of their daughter Jena. Jeanette was a devoted wife and mother who made life fun. She supported and nurtured the dreams and talents of her children. Whether she was cheering on the bleachers at her sons Regional Championship baseball game or doing her daughters hair and makeup for a performance; she made everything special. At the age of 39 her life was forever changed with the loss of her son Jeffrey. Through that loss a new part of her emerged, an unshakable faith that gave her the strength to live life with joy. Jeanette and Jeff traveled our beautiful country seeing the lights of Vegas, roads of Arizona, cliffs of the Grand Canyon and her favorite, driving through the blue walls into the Florida Keys. She lived a life of service, not only personally but professionally. After the death of her son she began working at the Norfolk General Guest Services department where she transformed her grief into love, honor and courage. With God as her anchor he gave her the strength to help others fight for their loved ones or have the peace to let them go. These last 10 years of her life were spent enjoying her beautiful grandchildren. Gregory, her dinosaur roaring country singing grandson and Summer who shared her love of fashion and danced into her heart. She spent her days under the dogwood tree as they climbed or on the screened porch watching them soar through the air on their swings. She made her backyard their haven and her heart their home. We find comfort knowing that she is now hand in hand with Jeffrey.
We would like to thank the staff at the Emergency Department at Sentara Leigh Hospital as well as the Neuro Intensive Care Unit team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Thank you all for your professionalism and tenderness during our time of sorrow.
Jeanette is preceded in death by her father Jerry Bailey; brother, Michael Bailey and son Jeffrey Treichel. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Jeff Treichel, daughter Jena Barrett, son-in-law Greg Barrett, grandchildren Gregory and Summer Barrett, mother Sandra Brock, sisters Pamela Whittington and Kimberly D'Angelo as well as sisters and brothers in law, nieces and nephews and many friends.
