Chesapeake, Isaiah S. Harris departed this life on May 1, 2009. Dick as he was fondly known was born on July 19, 1928 in Fairfield, NC to the late Isaiah S. Harris, Sr. and Elizabeth Pegram Harris.
Dick was raised in Brambleton in Norfolk, Va. He served his county in the United States Air Force. In 1953 Dick and his business partner, Les Davis opened Park Avenue Service Center. His career as an auto mechanic and proprietor spanned 45 years bringing him many loyal customers due to his honesty and integrity.
He is a Past Master of Norview Lodge #113 AF & AM, Past Treasurer Emeritus. Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, Khedive Shriners of America, Chesapeake, Knights of MECCA of Khedive Temple. Past Patron of Norview Chapter #131 Order of Eastern Star. Member of Berkley Chapter #52, Order of the Eastern Star. Honorary member of the Fire Brigade..
Dick was a volunteer at the Chesapeake General Hospital, as well as volunteering for Meals on Wheels for many years.
Some of his most enjoyable times were spent as a club member dancing with the Thalia Thumpers Square Dance Club and the Easy Steppers Round Dance Club.
PaPaw as he was known to all was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He always enjoyed family gatherings.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 55 years Lois. His son Teddy Harris (Jan) of Portsmouth. His daughter Arlene Price (Alan) of Virginia Beach. Grandchildren, Brandon Harris, Megan Lee (John), Melissa Taylor (Kraig), Jennifer Nowicki (Josh), And Dianna Price. Seven great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Abigale, Isaac, Evelyn, Ty, Haley and Hayden. Two sisters, Peggy Conley and Macel Dodd and numerous nieces and nephews. Dick was predeceased by four brothers and four sisters. In honor of Isaiah Harris a visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a service Tuesday at 10:00 am at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, 23502.
