Herman Smith Jr.

Herman Smith, Jr., 71, passed away to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Virginia Beach on Saturday, December 3, 2022. Herman was born in Valdosta, GA to the late Herman Smith, Sr. and Mozella Williams Smith. He is also predeceased by his sister, Rosia Smith and nephew, Jon Will Levar Smith.

Herman was a retired US Navy veteran and later became the manager with a local theater, Main Gate Movies. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and was lovingly called “Pop-Pop” by his grandchildren. Herman loved spending time with his family, listening to music and watching movies on his surround sound entertainment center. He was a member of the Modern Ark Holiness Church of Jesus Christ.

Herman is cherished in memory by his wife, Lillian C. Smith; children, Rennard Dula (LaToya), Maria Moise, Yowanda “Nikki” Smith and Herman Smith, III (Cassandra); grandchildren, Todric Graham, Tobias Moise, Aaron Dula, Lauron Dula, Ryon Dula, Jadon Rowson, Tonia Smith, Daisey Smith, Chloe Smith, Robert Nicholas and Rodney Napoleon Ponder; siblings, Walter Smith and Benny Smith (Annie Phee) as well as a host of other significant family members and friends.

There will be a visitation from 5-7pm, Friday, December 9, 2022 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 1pm, Saturday, December 10, 2022 in the funeral home chapel. A burial will immediately follow the service in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes everybody back to the funeral home reception hall for a repass for fellowship following the interment.
