Gladys Bea Akens

Gladys H Akens affectionately known as "Bea” passed away November 23, 2022 at the age of 96. She was born in Kingsport Tennessee to Jasper Clinton and Dora Hammonds. Bea was a member of Holland Road Baptist Church (Now Discovery Church) for approximately 40 years. She was a very proud Navy wife for 20 years. She is predeceased by her loving husband Edward “Ray” Akens, her only child Norman Ray Akens and her sister Wanda Dyles. She leaves to cherish her love and precious memories Granddaughter Janenne McLaughlin (Tom), two Great-Granddaughters Brittany and Brianna McLaughlin; Loving sister and best friend Louise Keene, sister Shirley Arnold (Curtis), and nephew Johnathan Keene (Jana). A very Special thanks to Pastor Steve Mentzer (Vicki) and daughter Stefanie as well as Amedisys Hospice.
