George C. Manuel, Jr., 94, passed away on April 21, 2022. Born in Roanoke, VA he was the son of the late George and Elizabeth Manuel.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 72 years, Nancy H. Manuel. He was also loved and will be truly missed by his daughters, Kathy (Doug), Leigh Anna Flora (Les), and Amy Waller (Gill). In addition to his three daughters, he was treasured by grandchildren, Jeffrey Flora, Brandon Flora (Alyson), Brittany Clark, Carter Waller, Clay Waller; great-grandchildren, Cameron and Decker Flora, and brother, William C. Manuel.
George was a kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had an infectious sense of humor. He loved to golf and made his first hole-in-one when he was 86 years old. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, and gardening. Spending time at their cottage in Nags Head, NC with family and friends held many special memories. George was also a long-time volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels and Bingo at an assisted living/nursing facility. He will be most remembered for his endless love and dedication to his family. George was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. He retired from Ford Motor Credit Company. He was a member of Great Bridge United Methodist Church, Chesapeake.
A funeral service will be held at Great Bridge United Methodist Church, 201 Stadium Drive, Chesapeake at 11am on Monday, April 25, 2022. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11am prior to the funeral service. The family invites you to join them for a reception following the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Great Bridge United Methodist Church.
