Dorothy W. Savage, 84, passed away on November 24, 2021, after a lengthy illness. She was born to the late Will Dennis and Mary Wilkins in Suffolk, Virginia. She married the love of her life, John Ronald Savage in 1954, and they were blessed with three children, Donna, John R. Savage, Jr. (Ron), and Deborah. Dorothy, “Dot,” was predeceased by her husband in 2008.
Dot lived in Virginia Beach for sixty years and was a retired registered nurse. Working at CHKD, she provided care to countless babies and children. She enjoyed attending weekend garage sales, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother James Allen Wilkins (Barbara) and her children, Donna Manning (Butch), Ron Savage (Susan), and Deborah Brown (Sonny); grandchildren, Joyce Phillips, John Frey, Sean Brown, Mollie Brown (Robert), and Chase Brown. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Peggy and brother Joseph Wilkins (Pat) and her oldest grandson, Jason Frey. Dot was also blessed with five great grandchildren (Tyler Phillips, Jacob Phillips, Lily Phillips, Logan Brown, and Benjamin Brown).
Visitation will be held at Aragona Church of Christ, 527 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 on 12/1/2021 at noon with the memorial service to follow at 1:00 pm at the church. The graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. The family welcomes friends and family at a reception following the funeral at 3101 Sand Pine Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 to celebrate Dot’s life.
