Dolores Smith Colston

Dolores S. Colston was born on October 24, 1932 in Clifton Forge, Va. She went to her eternal home on December 30, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thurman E. Smith Sr. and Lillian Javins Smith.

Mrs. Colston was a member of Central Baptist Church. She previously worked for J.J. Newberry, Leggett and Hecht Dept. Stores, Secretary for the EVA of the United Church of Christ and the Secretary of Immanuel Baptist Church of Chesapeake and Ortega Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL. She was active and supportive in her husband’s pastorates.

Survivors include her husband, The Rev. R. Otis Colston of sixty-five years, two sons, Raymond Otis Colston, Jr. of West Columbia, SC, Robert L. “Bob” Colston and wife Cyndi of Midlothian, VA, a daughter Debra C. Moose of Chesapeake, VA, a brother, Thurman “Curley” Smith and wife Mary of Covington, VA, five grandchildren, Crystal C. Redden and husband Clyde of Rome, GA, Ryan Colston of Lexington, SC, Ashley Colston of Midlothian, VA, Amy and Alissa Moose of Chesapeake, VA and one great grandson, Branson Redden of Rome, GA and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Norview Chapel.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, January 5, 11:00 a.m. at Central Baptist Church, 701 W. Olney Road, Norfolk, VA by The Rev. Dr. Tinney Parrish and The Rev. Keith Vaughan. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.
