Cynthia Louise Reilly quietly passed away following a brief illness on Dec. 28, 2014 at the Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was born Feb. 23, 1957 in Great Falls, MT to the late Thomas DeWolfe and Alma Myrtle Reilly. Cindy, as she was affectionately known by her friends, relocated and lived most of her life in Tidewater. She graduated from Bethel High School, in Hampton. Cindy’s work career lead her to serve in several positions, to include retail cashier at Newmarket North Mall, Wornom’s Arts & Craft, and Farm Fresh. Seeking advancement, she was employed for a brief period at Old Dominion University as a Clerk-Typist. She was later employed by Thomas Nelson Community College and Christopher Newport University as a Fiscal Assistant and Fiscal Technician. She returned to ODU with a distinguished career of 18 years in the Office of Student Financial Aid with her last assignment as a Student Financial Aid Counselor. Cindy who was fascinated with computers enrolled at the Tidewater Community College to learn Micro-Soft Office especially Power-Point. She also received several certificates of completion and CPE credits in Higher Education training. She was a member of the Virginia Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA). Cindy enjoyed traveling, Arts & Crafts, and sports. She used her crafts by assisting with decorating for many of the VASFAA conferences. Her favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Norfolk Admirals, and the ODU Football team (Go Monarchs). Cindy truly loved God and she loved helping people, especially her students. She was a great friend and admired co-worker. She dearly loved and cared for her cat and companion, Charlotte and greatly missed her cat Mee-Two, after whom she named her car and other important things. She was preceded in death by a niece, Tina Louise Westhead.She leaves to cherish her memory, sister, Susan Westhead (Jim); niece, Barbara Lee; nephew, James Thomas; 5 great-nieces; 8 great-nephews all of NM; devoted friends, Cynthia White (Bubbles), Jackie Lemons, and Thomas & Michone Lane; her ODU Financial Aid family; and University colleagues. Cindy’s favorite scripture was Revelation 21:4; And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
