Obituary of Bennie Eugene Reeves
Bennie Eugene Reeves, 83, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023 in Virginia Beach. Bennie was born in Oklahoma and preceded in death by his parents, Toy Martin and Irene Hall Martin. He was also predeceased by his devoted wife of 53 years, Peggy Reeves and his sister, Sue Hicks. Bennie retired as a Master Chief from the US Navy after 32 years of dedicated service. After his adventurous life in the Navy he went on and continued traveling the country as well as all the Canadian provinces and Mexico, all in his RV. In his spare time he loved playing golf and spending valuable time with his family and especially his grandchildren. Bennie is cherished in memory by his children, Bennie Reeves, Jr. and his wife, Amy, Bill Reeves and his wife, Toney, Sandy Wilbur and her husband, Scott; nine grandchildren, Matthew Wilbur, Ashley Snyder (Dan), Samantha Reeves (Lauren Tharp), Shannon Reeves (Jack McAuliffe), Jessica Reeves, Hannah Reeves, Reagan Reeves (Nathan Champagne), Chandler Reeves and Sarah Reeves; two great grandchildren, Leila and Owen Snyder; siblings, Charles Martin (Cindy) and Tommy Martin. Bennie leaves behind other significant family members and close friends. The family would like to personally thank Bennie’s caregiver, Bessie Davis, for her love and compassion taking care of Bennie over the years. A visitation will be from 5-7pm, Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Woodlawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11am, Thursday, March 23, 2023, with a reception to follow at Thalia Lynn Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, 4392 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. The service will be officiated by Rev. Prentiss McGoldrick. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens at 2pm following the funeral service and reception. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made providing opportunities to people of all ages with physical disabilities and visual impairments to participate in sports to Sportable.
