He was preceded in death by his father Alvah C Paul, Sr, his mother Lula McClung, his sister Betty Horton. He is survived by his son Kevin Paul, daughter Holly Martens (husband Mike), grandchildren, Richard Chaney IV (wife Angel), Ethan Martens and Riley Martens and great grandchildren, Rylynn and Kindrie Chaney. He is also survived by his life partner of 32 years, Ginger Jenkins, her daughter Lisa (husband Eric), and granddaughter Gabrielle.
After high school, Al served sometime in the military, worked at Norfolk Collegiate, before starting his long-term career with the City of Norfolk as a plumbing inspector. He loved cars and could often be seen waxing or detailing whatever car he had at the time or those of loved ones. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed being on several duck pin leagues at Bowlarama in Norfolk, VA. After retirement, he spent
much of his weekends enjoying his camper with family and friends at Indian Cove Resort. Although older than most, he played a mean corn hole game and was known to win tournaments a time or two. He also enjoyed riding his golf cart and was always happiest on the dance floor.
If you would like to share your condolences, the family will be gathering at the home of Eric and Lisa Hutchings Friday April 14, 2023 4:00-7:00 pm.
