Adoracion Almazan Martinez

Adoracion Almazan Martinez, 100, passed away on July 2, 2019. Born in San Narciso Zambales Philippines, she was the daughter of the late Nemesio and Engracia Almazan. Adoracion and is predeceased by her husband, Jose C. Martinez, Sr.; daughter, Adoracion Delacruz; four brothers and eight sisters.

Adoracion, affectionately known as “Nene” was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. She spent a career as an educator, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in home economics from National Teachers College in the Philippines. Everyone loved Nene’s cooking, especially her menudo, eggrolls and Filipino food in general. Nene also enjoyed crochet and sewing.

Nene leaves to cherish her memory one son, Jose A. Martinez, Jr. (Priscilla) and children; daughters, Engracianita Sumalnap (Angel) and children, Claribel Farrales (Cesar) and children, Joycelyn McGlaughlin (James), Vivian Fermil (Antenor) and children, Jacqueline Roma (Edgardo) and children and Dorie (deceased) and husband, Francis Delacruz and son; grandchildren, Leyva Marie Carr (Jonathan), Aristotle Sumalnap (Sherry), Joe Leo “Louie” Sumalnap (Kimberly), Darlene Shochet (Joe), Clarissa Bush (Eric), Cecile Tapman (Brian), Jose Paulo Martinez (Jenny), Percival Martinez (Tiffany), Adriel Francis Delacruz , Elizabeth Balay (Dennis), Paul Kenneth Fermil (Mafaye), Vivien “Via” Fermil, Edmund Roma (Esthella), Edward James Roma (Michelle), and Cristina Roma; great-grandchildren, Reijyel Angenithe Carr, Jan Adrian Sumalnap, Jacob Ryan Sumalnap, Joleann Sumalnap, Jazlynn Grace Sumalnap, Jourdin Faith Sumalnap, Christopher Shochet (Hanuel), Emily Shochet, Maxwell Shochet, Jason Bush, Christian Bush, Jack Tapman, Katherine Tapman, Jeffrey Martinez, Jeremy Martinez, Jason Martinez, Nathaniel Martinez, Anthony Fermil, Kayla Fermil, Rhian Fermil, Kaiden Fermil, Eliza Balay, Nicole Balay, Cian DeLeon, Fitzlouie Roma, Avalouise Roma, Liam Alexander Roma, Giullianna Roma, and Gabriella Lynn Roma; great-great-grandchild, Avery Leo Fermil.
