Adela Dulay Singson, 84, went home with the Lord peacefully on June 30, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born in Carmay Rosales, Pangasinan, Philippines. She was raised in Aringay, La Union, Philippines. She came to the United States in 1960 on a student visa. She has been a resident of Virginia Beach, VA since 1974.
Adela received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines in 1960. She worked as a Real Estate Principal Broker and Income Tax Preparer. With her husband, Filomeno, they owned Virginia Heritage Realty since 1981, and Singson Income Tax Service since 1974. She was an active and faithful parishioner of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church where she served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Small Faith Communities there. She was a lifetime member of the United Ilocano Association of Tidewater and also a member of the Filipino American Veterans Womens Auxiliary. Adela loved life. She adored her family especially. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, ballroom and line dancing, zumba, and karaoke singing. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Victoriano and Margarita Dulay; sisters, Felicita Dulay Leon and Carmen Dulay Patio. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Filomeno Cantor Singson; 5 children, Joyce Singson Batista, Joel Singson, Jennifer Saccoia and her husband, Lawrence, Phyllis Smallwood and her husband, Michael, Adelyn Laing and her husband, William; 4 grandchildren, Rachel Lizan and her husband, Reynaldo, Phillip Saccoia, William Laing, Jr., Adam Laing; 3 great-grandchildren, Raynor, Raegan and Rhealeigh Lizan; her brothers, Felipe Dulay and his wife, Leonie, and Vivencio Dulay and his wife, Rebecca, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and appreciation to her Comfort Care Team for their professionalism and hard work. A viewing and wake will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 from 4-8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. The funeral mass will be held at 10am, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 5343 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens mausoleum. A reception to meet and greet the family will follow the services at the Philippine Cultural Center of Virginia.
