Yolanda Bacchetta Smith

Yolanda Bacchetta Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at the age of 96. She was born on March 19, 1927 in Boonton, NJ. She spent her childhood in Italy and was a resident of Luling, LA for over 30 years.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul W. Smith Sr., their son, Paul W. Smith Jr., her parents, Pancrazio and Maria Bacchetta, siblings, Freddie, Louis, Dominic, and Frank Bacchetta, and Mafalda Martone, and her grandchildren, Holly, Michelle, and Melissa Faucheux.

She is survived by her beloved children, Dennis Smith (Sylvia Marie), Peggy Huckaba (the late George), Allen Smith, and Darlene Faucheux (Michael). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Yolanda had a vivacious personality and youthful spirit. She loved going on “girl’s trips” with her grandchildren and always enjoyed visiting the casino. She was a talented seamstress and worked at Wembley Tie Company until her retirement. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother who was happiest surrounded by family and always looked forward to Sunday dinners when everyone would gather together. She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, February 9, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd. Destrehan, LA. Visitation will be held from 10 AM – 12 PM with a Mass to begin at 12 PM. Interment will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
