Our loving father, Ronald J. St. Pierre, of Norco, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023, in Jackson, Mississippi at the age of 93. Ronald was born on March 4, 1929, to Odette and Denis St. Pierre in Destrehan, Louisiana. He loved St. Charles Parish where he was born, raised, and spent most of his life. He received his degree in engineering at LSU and was an avid Tiger fan. He worked for Shell Oil in Norco for 40 years serving in many capacities, often representing Shell in the community.
He was married to the love of his life, Yolande Jacob St. Pierre, and they raised 6 children. They were married for 69 years until her death in August 2020. It was at that time, after residing in Baton Rouge for two years, that he went to live with his daughter, Paula, and son-in-law, Bill, in Ridgeland, Mississippi.
Ronald's passion and pastime were his family and community. Here is a partial list of the organizations which he served as an officer: Norco Civic Association, Norco Lions Club, American Legion Post 195, River Road Historical Society, The Council for Prevention of Child Abuse, and The Council on Aging. He was a member of the St. Charles Parish School Board for a total of 28 years, serving as president during some of the most trying times and seeing the school system come into the 21st century as one of the best in the state. His devotion to his faith prompted him to be very active in his Catholic community which included the Holy Name Society, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, where he served as Eucharistic Minister, and Sacred Heart of Jesus School Board.
Ronald's family enjoyed many years of week-long reunions at Percy Quin, Lake Claiborne, and other state parks, fostering strong family bonds. He loved being around his family and friends, and everyone knew you would be teased by him as that was his love language.
He is survived by his son Wayne St. Pierre (Clara), daughters Yolande Charles (Boyd), Louann Bombet (Ronald), Susan Beil (Ray), Paula Lockhart (Bill), and Ginger Shanley (Ryan); grandchildren Jeanne Harrison, Stephen St. Pierre, Dennis St. Pierre Charles, Michael Charles, Betsy, Lauren, and Allyson Bombet, Julie Suggs, Audra Hill, Jacob Biel, Covey and Lyrik Lockhart, and Meredith and Landon Shanley; great-grandchildren Hannah and Jax Harrison, Isabella and Serafina St. Pierre Charles, Benjamin, Emma, and William Suggs; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and adored him. He is preceded in death by his wife Yolande Jacob St. Pierre, his parents Odette and Denis St. Pierre, brothers Lourey St. Pierre and Hubert St. Pierre, and sisters-in-law Myrtle St. Pierre and Shirley St. Pierre.
Our family would like to thank Paula and Bill for their love and devotion in taking care of Daddy since Mama died and The Abigayle Adult Day Center in Ridgeland, MS.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Norco. Visitation will be held from 9AM to 11AM, with a Mass to begin at 11AM. Burial will follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 401 Spruce St. Norco, LA 70079.
