Nathan Joseph Champagne, 80, passed away on January 15, 2018. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Fay Foster Champagne. Children, Nathan J. Champagne II (Geneva), Edward J. Champagne (Suzanne), Steven W. Champagne (Matt), and Andrea C. Morgan (John). Grandchildren, Garion, Anakin, Nathan III, Nicholas, and Alexander Champagne, Maya Nancy Morgan, and Miki Nicole Morgan. He is also survived by his brother Wayne A. Champagne (Sue), and two sisters-in-law, Betty Champagne and Winona Champagne.
He is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Myrthee Vicknair Champagne, and two brothers, Alfred P. Champagne II and Errol D. Champagne.
Nathan was a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over 54 years, where he was awarded the Cross of St. George, District Award of Merit, Silver Beaver, and was a member of the Boy Scouts Camp Salmen Staff Reunion Committee. He was the 1978 Charles E. Dunbar, Jr. Career Civil Service League Award recipient, a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Holy Name Society, OLPH Parish Council and OLPH School Board. He served in the United States Army Security Agency for three years. He was a member of the American and Louisiana Mosquito Control Associations; past member of Lions Club, Kiwanis Dawn Busters, Toastmasters International, and Public Relations Society of America. He also worked for the EPA under the Brownfield Grant Program.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a visitation at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church in River Ridge, on Monday, January 22, 2018 beginning at 11 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM with burial to follow at St. Louis #3 in New Orleans.
