Lester R. Montz, Sr. a retired staff engineer for Shell Oil passed away on July 6, 2016. He was 96 years old. A native of Lyons, La and a resident of Norco, La for over 80 years. He was a graduate of Destrehan High School. Lester was a World War II veteran and a Purple Heart recipient. After the war, he returned to LSU where he received his degree in mechanical engineering. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0195 and an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elsie Hatfield Montz and two children, Karen Montz Triche (Kenny) and Lester (Buddy) Montz, Jr. Also survived by three grandsons, Paul Triche (Lisa), David Triche and Brad Montz. Three great-granddaughters Camryn and Chloe Triche and Briley Montz. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Montz, parents Frank and Elizabeth Cambre Montz and five brothers and five sisters. He was a devout Christian and member of Sacred Heart Church in Norco. Relatives and friends are invited to Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, July 9, 2016. Visitation will begin at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 11 AM. Interment to follow at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum in Destrehan, LA.
