Harold Charles Montz, Sr., age 87, loving son, devoted husband, exceptional father, giving grandfather adoring great-grandfather, confidant, friend and “Special Dude” peacefully entered the kingdom of Heaven on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 9:00 am. “Spot”, as he was known by in his younger years, was a native of New Sarpy and a resident of Destrehan for over 61 years. He was the beloved son of the late Claude Sr. and Amelia Duhe’ Montz. He was preceded in death by his brother, Claude Montz, Jr. He was also preceded in death by his true love, wife Anna Migliore Montz of New Sarpy. They were married 57 wonderful years raising their family in Destrehan. He is survived by his son, Harold C. Montz, Jr. (Jeannette), of Moreauville, LA and his daughter Cindy Montz Bordelon (Robert) of Destrehan. He was the very proud grandfather of Alison Bordelon Nolan (Mike) of Madisonville, LA and Robyn Bordelon of Destrehan, LA. Paw Paw Harold adored his two little great-granddaughters, Lauren and Madeline Nolan of Madisonville, LA. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Dyson, of Baton Rouge, LA.
Harold held numerous jobs in his lifetime starting with the Pam American Oil Refinery and ending with his retirement from the Shell Chemical Plant in Norco, LA.
The family would like to express unending gratitude and praise to Executive Director, Jay Tipton, and the wonderfully caring and devoted staff of Ashton Manor Assisted Living and Memory Care of Luling, LA where our dad lived out the last 3 years of his life. They truly became a second family to Mr. Harold and Cindy. Also special thanks to Glynn Chevalier and Mary Beth Bowers for their unending friendship, support and time devoted to our dad over the past 19 years.
Visitation will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 from 9:30 AM until 11 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation with entombment in the Church Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred. H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, LA is in charge of arrangements.
