Niantic- Joseph Earl Healy, 82, a lifelong resident of Niantic entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
He was born to the late Earl and Shirley (Mace) Healy.
He graduated from UCONN College of Agriculture becoming a Conservation Officer for the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. He retired as a Chief from the DEEP retiring in 1995.
He then founded the One Tide Lobster Company, lobstering around the Niantic Bay Area.
Addition to being on the water, Joe was also an avid sports fan, especially football. He played Little League baseball, football, basketball and Baseball for New London High School. He later became the football coach for East Lyme High School. Joe also enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor sports. He was a dog lover and had many canine companions during his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife Judith Andrew-Healy of Niantic, Son Ryan Healy and his wife Heather of Waterford. Four sisters, Shirley Healy of Niantic, Connie Reagan and her husband Dennis of Quaker Hill, Mary Scarpa and her husband Jack of Niantic and Linda Fecto and her husband Michael of Niantic. He leaves behind two grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends as well as his beloved Boykin Spaniel Crik.
An expression of gratitude to nephew David Bond and wife Kerri, friends Sandra Strickland-Madrak and her husband Roger for all their help and support during this difficult time.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00pm in Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic, CT. A Service will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:00am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
