Henrietta Brown

Born on November 28, 1925 in New London, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Catherine Broske. Henrietta was raised in New London but lived all of her adult life in Waterford. Henrietta graduated from WMI and retired from the New London Sub Base after 28 years of employment. In her earlier years she volunteered her time with the Waterford Little League and in retirement she volunteered at the Lawrence & Memorial Hospital. Although she had a full working career, she always devoted herself to her role as wife and mother and as Nanny to her beloved grand and great grandchildren.

She is survived by the loves of her life: her children, son Kim Brown of Groton and daughter Debbie (Brown) Murphy and her husband Ed of South Windsor, CT; her granddaughters Jennifer (Murphy) Ward and her husband Peter from Boyds, MD and Jessica (Murphy) Groleau and her husband Shawn of Enfield; her great grandchildren Lizzy, Brayden and Nathan; her sister and brother-in-law Doris and Jack Palmer of Fresno, CA; long time family friend Carol Kargul of Groton; and, her many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brother Mitchell Broske who was killed in action aboard the USS Tiger during WWII and her sister Stella Hutchins.

Her family would like to thank: the employees at the New London Social Security office; Hospice of Southeastern CT especially nurses Dawn and Holly and her aide Stephanie; Dr. David Thompson; Dr. Govil and the New London Cancer Center; and, the Lawrence & Memorial Cancer Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday November 9th at 2pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic, CT. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. Calling hours will be held for 2 hours prior to the service from noon-2pm at the funeral home on Friday.
