Frances Faye (Gambro) Lutzen, 73, known to many as Frannie, of Hobe Sound, FL and formerly of Niantic, CT, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, Nonnie, and friend, who’s love for life and infectious smile would brighten any room. Frances left this world suddenly on January 4, 2022 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer.
Born on October 7, 1948 to Louis and Fedora Gambro in New London. She married her high school sweetheart, Gregory Lutzen and together they built a life in Giant’s Neck Heights in Niantic, CT.
Frannie had a passion for fitness and owned two fitness studios, Dance Aerobics Unlimited and Franercize. Fran also worked at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for many years in the Radiology film library. In her spare time, she was secretary of the Harley Owner’s Group, New London Chapter, secretary of the CT State Harley Rallies and also served as secretary of the Giant’s Neck Heights Association for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gregory, whom she married on February 22, 1969. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Michael Lutzen and wife Veronica of Lisbon,CT and their children Zachary, Cody, Brad, Nick, Sabrina and Samantha. Her daughter Jennifer Rose and husband Jeremy of Niantic, CT and their children Ethan and Jacob, and 10 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Patricia (Gambro) Cornell and brother in law Thomas Cornell of Jupiter, FL, sisters in law Beth Orth and husband Greg of Carlsbad, CA, Mary Lutzen of Stonington, CT and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by sister in law Suzanne Jullarine.
Services will take place on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10am at St. Agnes Church in Niantic, CT. A celebration will follow at Filomena’s in Waterford, CT.
Donations in Fran’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children.
