Eugene "Gene" Gulovsen

Eugene "Gene" Gulovsen, age 90, passed away on March 14, 2025. Previously of Oceanport, NJ, for over 50 years, and more recently of East Lyme, CT being closer to family. Predeceased by his wife Joyce (just shy of age 88) and survived by his older brother Author and nephews Anton and Carl all living in New England; only son Eric and wife Dyan of Salem, CT; grandchildren Zachary and wife Thelma of Cranston, RI, Caleb and wife Ariel of Salem CT; great grandchildren Tyrion, Oberyn, Octavian, and Tucker

Born and raised in Neptune, NJ, Gene joined the Navy at a young age serving for a few years before going into the construction trades similar to his father Anton (born in Norway). Was a union carpenter local 255 for over 45 years working in Monmouth & Ocean Counties along with winding down his trade career at the Monmouth Park Racetrack before retiring at an age 65. Built several of his own houses in his spare time including helping with ours in Salem, CT many years back providing his knowledge and weekends.

Was of that lost era of paying cash upfront having almost no debt throughout his lifespan. Enjoyed camping, hiking, biking, swimming and walking the boardwalk along with ice skating, ice boating, and night crabbing via a canoe when he was a tad younger (built several ice boats and a canoe over the years).

A family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
