Cynthia Roe Lawton

Cynthia Roe Lawton, 87, of Niantic, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023. Cynthia was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Thomas Daniel Lawton. Born in Jackson, Michigan, to Harvey and Elsie (Ebersberger) Roe, she grew up in Parma, Michigan and settled in Niantic once retired.

She attended Michigan State University, where she met Tom and together, they cheered on the Spartans football and basketball teams. Cynthia graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and held various jobs in the healthcare field throughout her career including teaching and geriatric care. In retirement, she was a loving Grandma, world traveler and volunteer for the American Red Cross Disaster Service. Her favorite days were spent reading a book, often at the beach with her toes in the sand.

Cynthia, will be dearly missed by her daughter Deb Lawton of Niantic, her granddaughter Stephanie Jones and her husband Zachary Jones of Hazel Green, AL, and her sister Marilyn Duke of Mt. Pleasant, MI. She was predeceased by her daughter Elizabeth (Beth) Lawton of Niantic.

A private memorial will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross or Susan G Komen for the Cure.
