Walter Woodruff Field

Peacefully on March 4th, 2015 at the greater Niagara General Hospital in his 88th year with his family at his side. His spirit has now gone to be with his God and savior and is at rest. He leaves his loving Joan (nee Ings) of Niagara Falls and loving father of Larry Field of Tampa Florida and Nancy Boan of Winnipeg, Manitoba and grandfather of Aileen-Boan of Winnipeg and Jena Boan of Regina. Great grandfather of Ethan and Edric. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Jessie Field in 1981 & 1987 respectively. Walt was born in Niagara Falls in 1927. He attended Kitchener Street Public School and N.F.C.V.I. before working for Bright’s Wines and the Borden Company. He joined Kimberly Clark of Canada in 1958 and the family was transferred to Winnipeg in 1960 and he retired from K. C. in 1983 and had many wonderful retirement years. The family had a cottage at Lake of the Woods (Kenora Ontario) for many years and spent the summers there fishing, boating and having a particularly great time with family especially with the grandchildren. During the winter Joan and Walt returned to Niagara Falls and spent six weeks or so from the Falls visiting many Caribbean Islands, particularly Barbados for many years. In 1994 the cottage in Kenora was sold. They bought a place in central southern Florida and spent many complete winters there. During the last 40 or so years of Walt’s life he had a close association with family even as they were in different parts of North America. All in all Walt had a wonderful blessed life with many friends and family togetherness.

Walt and Joan were married in CHRIST CHURCH, 4750 Zimmerman Avenue in Niagara Falls in 1951 and Walt’s Funeral Service is to be held there on Thursday March 12th, 2015 at 1:30pm.The service is to be conducted by Reverend Father Paul Maynard and Interment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens in Fonthill, Ontario. Donations can be made to the Christ Church Renewal Plan and Fund. Arrangements entrusted to Hetherington and Deans Funeral Chapel.
