I'm grateful for the closeness I shared with my sister Marie.  Although we deal with death, we are never quite over the loss, but memories will bring her close.  Times like this make me think of our childhood.  We were poor as church mice, but we younger children survived on the prairies with the care of our older sisters, Esther, Eva, Diane, and Em.  I am very thankful for their guidance. (Em was the one who enabled the rest of us to move to Niagara Falls, and for that I will always be thankful.) I always admired Marie's lovely hair — ringlet curls while mine was straight.  And Marie got me my first job — till I turned 18 and began my career as a telephone operator at Bell Canada — as nanny to one of Dr. McGarry's children.  The McGarry family always appreciated Marie's fine housekeeping, especially her cooking.  Later in adulthood, it was always a pleasure to visit Marie and be included in the family with Albert, Richard, and Ken.  And when Marie's letters arrived, she always included recipes.  But it's Ken and Richard's sailor suits, which Marie passed along for my son Robert, that I will remember most.  Robert always wore them in the childhood portraits I so treasure.  Marie was always kind and generous.  Distance separated us over time, but Marie and my sisters and brothers have been in my daily thoughts and prayers.  And I will be there for Albert, Richard, and Ken if they need me.  May Marie, whom we all loved dearly, rest in peace.

Uncle Albert, Richard, and Ken — I am remembering my Aunt Marie as a lively, generous, and loving presence in my early life, and a delight to hear from over the years as she kept in touch with my mom.  When I look at pictures of her with the pups and with family, and when I recall all the times we talked to her while she was busily preparing to welcome family and friends to gatherings at home, I know she was surrounded by love, and gave much love to those in her life.  We will miss her, and remember her.

Hello to the Tonn family.  I am so glad that I was able to meet some of you and Marie a few years ago when I attended a Nuclear Medicine mtg in Toronto.  Prayers for all of you.

I will and always have the best Mother in Law in the world. You are at rest finally Marie. Everyone in their hearts know is just goodbye for now. You will be missed, now and forever. One will ever forget. Love you Marie!
