Born November 28, 1930 in Niagara Falls. Margaret passed away peacefully at Meadows of Dorchester on July 5, 2016 at the age of 85. Margaret is predeceased by her loving husband John Van Wyk and brother, David Kerr. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her four children, Joan Duhaime (Russ), Bruce Van Wyk (Molly), Lynne Karagias (Mike) and Karen Wright (Mike), as well as her grandchildren, Connor and Owen Duhaime, Celia and Brendan Karagias, Emma and Avery Wright and Jake and Will Van Wyk, who loved her so much. She also leaves behind her brother, Alan Kerr, and sisters-in-law, Cora Lopers (nee Van Wyk), Jean Kerr and Mary Kerr, and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was one of the seventh generation of Kerrs from Niagara Falls, where she taught primary school at Drummond Hill, Orchard Park and Simcoe Street Schools after beginning her teaching career at a one room schoolhouse in Ancaster. Margaret was an incredibly kind and generous person, and always offered help to whoever was in need. She will truly be missed by all those whose lives she has touched. May she rest in peace.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Meadows of Dorchester, whose kindness and loving care was greatly appreciated.
