Passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 78 years of age. Loving and faithful husband to Betty for 41 years. Dear father of Nellie, Alex (Loredana), Kevin (Cheryl), Stanley (Angie), Jacqueline George (Robert), & Wesley (Charla). Beloved Opa of Billy, Joshua, Lucas, Isabella, Jackson, Kennedy, Zalika, Eli, Ila, Slate, Evangeline, Cameron, Josh, Emily, Mason, & Riley. He is fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Carl Geisler, niece Kim Flaherty (Tom), and by 4 nephews from Holland. Cherished brother-in-law and uncle to the Heyns family. Predeceased by his much loved sisters Nell, Leny, and by his daughter-in-law Dawn (nee Wilkes). John was a talented artist, art teacher and longtime faithful member of Rehoboth C. R. C.
In accordance with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue on Friday from 6 – 9 PM. An interment service is to be held at Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls at 12 noon Saturday, May 31, 2014, and those wishing to attend are asked to arrive at the funeral home no later than 11:45 AM to proceed to the cemetery. A memorial service will follow at Rehoboth Christian Reformed Church, 4878 Jepson Street on Saturday at 1 PM. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to World Renew would be appreciated.
