Evelyn Bessie Gavin

Evelyn Bessie Gavin passed away peacefully at Millennium Trail Manor on Monday, December 30, 2024, at the remarkable age of 103. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, on Sunday, September 18, 1921, Evelyn was a devoted wife, first to Vernon Potter for 32 years and then to Charles Gavin for 25 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Carole Maillet (Frank) (Beamsville), Ted (Janice) Potter (Niagara Falls), and Dan (Mara) Potter (Sherkston). Evelyn was a cherished grandmother to Jennifer Maillet, Darren Maillet, James Potter, Tiffany D’Amico, Mathew Potter, and Mia Potter. She also adored her great-grandchildren, Caleb D’Amico, Carter D’Amico, Scottlyn, and Bella.

Evelyn had a passion for knitting, bowling, swimming, square dancing, and walking, but her greatest love was for cats. She cherished her 25 years living in Florida, where she enjoyed beach visits and volunteered at local hospitals in both Florida and Niagara Falls.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff at Millennium Trail Manor for the exceptional care they provided Evelyn during her stay, especially in her final moments.

A visitation will be held at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Home & Chapel (5176 Victoria Ave, Niagara Falls, ON) on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1-3 PM, followed by a chapel service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyn's memory can be made to the Humane Society of Greater Niagara.
