It is with great sadness that the family of Anthony Cerminara announce his passing after a courageous battle with cancer on August 27, 2021 in his 90th year. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife Susan of 70 years, his daughters Kathy (Doug) Birrell and ToniRose Franco. Our Papa will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren; Sarah (JJ) Castrilli, Jessica Birrell (Louie Coppola), Jordan Franco (Natalie Pare), and Morgan Franco. Papa Tony will be affectionately missed by his 5 great grandchildren; Elle Rose, Jackson, Stella, Vincenzo, and Victoria; and also by his best friend Wayne. Tony was predeceased by his siblings Flora (Ritz), Rosie, Joseph (Sarge), and Sonny.
Tony worked hard all his life, providing for his family from the age of 16. His family was his life. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do for his family. He was a strong man with a big heart. He was the life of a party, a shoulder you could lean on, and a man you could always count on. After all those years of working, Tony enjoyed a 25 year retirement.
Special thanks goes to Tony's PSW Doug (from Care Partners) who took such good care of him and also became a "good friend" who Tony enjoyed spending time with each day. We would also like to thank Dr. K. Scher and the Palliative Care Unit at the Douglas Memorial Hospital, especially Danielle, for their compassionate care during a very difficult time for us. Many thanks go to Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel for their help and guidance.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony's memory to the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital (sickkidsfoundation.com/waystodonate) or Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides (dogguides.com/donate) would be greatly appreciated by the family.
