William F. Martin was born October 28, 1936 in Dover, NJ to the late Frederick Z. and Geneva (Rogalo) Martin. He was raised in Wharton and attended St. Mary’s School and Morris Hills Regional High School. He has resided at Paulinskill Lake in Stillwater Township since 1960.
William was a sergeant in the NJ National Guard from 1959 to 1965. He was employed at National Hose Co. in Dover until 1967. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a Certified Steel Fabricator for Westinghouse Corporation in Randolph Twp., and retired from Schindler Elevator Corp. in 1991. He was a trustee for Paulinskill Lake Association, supervising the beaches and ground maintenance programs. William organized the P.L.A. Annual Chicken BBQ for over 25 years.
William loved tennis, golf, and bowling and he was a member of the “Super Sexy Seniors” bowling team in Sparta and also a member of the Stillwater Twp. Taxpayers Assn.
William is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Janet (Raastad-Jakobsen); his son David; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, William is predeceased by his son Timothy Martin; and his sister Natalie Bogert.
Funeral arrangements are private under the direction of Smith-McCracken Funeral Home.
