Born in Newton, Ginny was a lifelong resident of Sussex County and 1967 graduate of High Point Regional High School. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
As a member of Lafayette Federated Church, Ginny was a Senior choir member for many years as well as a Sunday school and bible school teacher. Ginny was whole-heartedly active in many community organizations including SCARC, Inc., SCARC Guardianship, SCARC Gordon Shelton Memorial Walk-a-Thon, and the Sussex County Agricultural Society. In addition to community service, she had a passion for playing piano, crocheting, baking, and gardening.
Ginny was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Shelton and her parents, Carl Price and Lois (Decker) Price DeGroat as well as her stepfather, Stanley DeGroat Jr. She is survived by her children, Dawn Weldon (Stephen) of Leominster, MA, Bruce Shelton (Angela) of Montague, NJ, Bonnie Joy Shelton of Branchville, NJ, and Debra Shumate (Daniel) of Appomattox, VA; her grandchildren, Caleb and Charlotte Weldon of Leominster, MA and Jacob Shelton of Rochelle Park, NJ; her brother Lester Price (Kathy) of Whitney Point NY, sisters Judy Price of Newton NJ, and Joanne DeGroot of Wantage NJ, as well as her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, October 24, 2022, at Lafayette Federated Church, 180 Lafayette Rd, Lafayette, NJ. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Lafayette Federated Church, interment to follow in Branchville Cemetery, Branchville, NJ. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed at LFC.org/media for anyone who cannot attend in person.
