Thelma was born on January 12, 1922 in Tranquility, NJ to the late Dana and Harriet (Grover) Appleman. Thelma grew up in Tranquility until 1952 and moved to Bevans before living in Hampton Township until 2016. Thelma then moved to Pikeville, TN. Thelma volunteered for over 25 years for Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice and participated in many butterfly release events. She was a 4H leader and farmed at Bevan’s. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Selective Insurance in Branchville. Thelma enjoyed knitting and cherished spending time with her loved ones.
The beloved wife to the late James L. Munson, Thelma is survived by her children, James Munson, Jr. and his wife, Leslie and Harriet Gibbins and her husband Ron; her grandchildren, James III, Jeff (Zorina), Michele, Dana (Ken), Barbara and Ron; her great-grandchildren, Makayla, Nicole, Rhett, Alexandria, Justin, Dane and Lauren and her great-great-grandchildren, Reese, Hailey and Savannah. Along with her parents and husband, her grandson, Ron Gibbins, Jr., predeceased Thelma.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High Street, Newton, NJ 07860. A funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Tranquility Cemetery in Green Township.
