Ruth was born in Ragland, Alabama on June 11, 1943. At the age of 18, she relocated to Sussex County where she became a life-long resident. Ruth worked at Picatinny Arsenal, and was also a store associate at the Walmart of Franklin for 22 years.
Ruth loved spending time with her family, and relished the moments they all spent together. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her two beloved daughters, Barbara Lozier and her fiancé William McCullough of Montague, NJ, and Michelle Teets and her husband Ken Teets of Newton, NJ; her brother, George Bowden Jr. of Heflin, AL; and 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth is predeceased by her brother, Jerry Bowden; and her daughter, Julia Lambert.
A visitation for Ruth will be held Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St., Newton, NJ 07860. A graveside service will take place Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Newton Cemetery, 19 Lawnwood Ave, Newton, NJ 07860.
