Roy was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He studied engineering in college and worked a 25-year career as a Police Officer for the Newark Police Department prior to retiring in 1994. Roy proudly served his country in the US Army; he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in 1995.
Roy was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was an active member of St. Joseph R.C. Church in Newton, serving as an usher and Eucharistic minister.
Roy was predeceased by his parents, Roy R. and Evelyn (Doyle) Orcutt. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Audrey Orcutt of Newton, New Jersey; his son, Roy Orcutt and fiancée, Noreen Zawada-Bevington, of Meridian, Idaho; his daughter, Karen Prevete and husband, Dominick of Hardyston, New Jersey; two granddaughters; Monica and Marcelle Mendiburu; as well as and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Smith-McCracken Funeral Home, 63 High St, Newton, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, October 21, 2022, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, 24 Halsted St, Newton, entombment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, Route 206, Newton, NJ.
